Invent@UCA Projects Final Pitch

More than 50 students attended the INVENT@UCA Final Pitch Event (autumn session) on December, 7th to present the projects they have worked on until September.

The INVENT@UCA program fosters the pooling of skills and talents of students from different backgrounds who work during 3 months through a co-creation process to find innovative solutions to real business or societal cases. This program is offered as an option by DS4H for its Master's students to allow them to develop their soft skills in problem solving, management, communication, etc.

Many thanks to Pauline Paya (M2 Digital Law & IP) and Manith Prum (M1 Computer science) who accepted to tell us a few words about their experience. Discover their interviews.

Let's go for Semester 2!

For the second time this year, DS4H students have been invited to make their choice among a variety of 8 minors and 5 different types of projects.

Minors are designed to allow students to open to new domains and to complement their basic training with new skills. They are taught in English. They have little prerequisites to remain as accessible as possible to people with different backgrounds. For this second semester, the minors open are:

  • Digital Strategy

  • Digital IP and Law

  • Digital Business

  • Innovation & Design thinking

  • Introduction to Scientific Research

  • Mobiquitous and Big Data Systems

  • Web Privacy

In addition, students can get involved in individual or group projects by selecting a tutorship (immersion in a laboratory), a disciplinary project, or a multidisciplinary project. Different choices are again available as multidisciplinary projects: within the INVENT@UCA program (OASIS and Demola), or being part of a multidisciplinary research project or a creative industries project/ a project of creation, production and marketing of creative content for new digital uses (video games, serious games, and technological projects).

This fully modular training program makes the DS4H Graduate school pedagogical offer unique in France.

Record participation for the UCAnCode Programming Contest

110 teams took up the challenge to solve the 8 problems proposed by their professors from the Department of Informatics on this Friday, December 14th.

In spite of some technical problems due to the unprecedented number of competitors (199 compared to 148 on april session), the contest was the opportunity for the students of all grades (from L1 to M2) to review their exams, to gain programming experience, and to compete with other programmers in a very nice and friendly atmosphere.

Programming contests are being organized all over the world, even by companies that use them as qualification tests for their future employees. Thus, participating is an asset for young people willing to expand their CV!

Google Hash Code 2019

The Department of Informatics will be organizing a hub for the next Google team-based HashCode Programming Contest. In small teams of two to four, coders all over the world will tackle the first problem through an Online Qualification Round. Though this round is hosted online, teams can come together to compete side-by-side in locally coordinated Hash Code hubs. The top teams from this round will be invited at an international Google office for our annual Hash Code Final Round.

Register before February, 28th on https://codingcompetitions.withgoogle.com/hashcode
