Résumé 

Nonlinearities in local quantum theories of interacting particles produce divergences that require understanding. A simple model will be used to explain the required concept of a renormalization group procedure in quantum mechanics. The model is simple enough to exhibit the key mathematics. It is also rich enough to incorporate some features that are analogous to the asymptotic freedom in particle physics and limit cycle in nuclear or atomic physics. It thus indicates that there may exist a dynamical link between these features, through formation of bound states. New renormalization group methods worth attempting for this and similar purposes will be mentioned.
