"The Making of Experimental Economics : Witness Seminar on the Emergence of a Field"
Abstract – In this presentation I will talk about the transcript of a witness seminar on the emergence of experimental economics that recently appeared with Springer as Andrej Svorencik and Harro Maas (eds) The Making of Experimental Economics : Witness Seminar on the Emergence of a Field (Springer 2016). The transcript gives a first-hand account of what by any standards is a major change in the research practices of economists : the introduction of the experiment as a viable method to gather information on the economic behavior of individuals and institutions such as markets. The transcript covers two days of intensive conversation, that was moderated by behavioral economist Chris Starmer. I will talk about the selection of participants (comprising three Nobel laureates), the topics we covered, the new things we learned, and the pitfalls of a witness seminar as a method of writing modern history. If audio works, I will show a couple of fragments of the seminar itself.
Séminaire co-organisé avec le Projet H2P2S (GREDEG).
